Hobby-ist Editorial TeamA market can be a good place to go without a shopping list. You might ask how an unfamiliar ingredient is used, spend longer than expected choosing lunch with a friend, or stop at an object you would have walked past in a store. The attraction is partly what you came for and partly what changes your mind along the way.
This weekend, the 53rd Los Angeles Korean Festival brings an opportunity to explore food, shopping and cultural programming in Koreatown. If you have heard people mention the Korean market, think of the stalls as one part of a larger festival. This is a planning guide based on the organizer’s information, rather than a report from a visit.
The dates and place to put in your calendar
The festival runs Thursday, October 1, through Sunday, October 4, 2026, with published daily hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. For a weekend visit, choose Saturday, October 3, or Sunday, October 4. Admission is free; allow a separate budget for purchases and parking. See the organizer’s official FAQ.
The venue is Seoul International Park, 3250 San Marino St, Los Angeles, CA 90006, also listed by Discover Los Angeles. Keep the park address separate from the entrance of your chosen parking garage or shuttle stop when planning your arrival.
Make the first circuit about curiosity
The organizer describes a mix of food, Korean products, artisan goods, exhibitions and experiences. Give yourself a first look before deciding where to spend your time or money. A circuit of the stalls can be its own activity, without an obligation to bring home a full bag. The festival introduction groups its attractions around food, shopping, performance and experience.
When something catches your attention, ask one question beyond the price. How would someone normally use that ingredient? What material is the object made from? A short conversation can make an unfamiliar product easier to understand without turning curiosity into a promise to buy. Wait if the vendor is helping another customer, and ask before photographing their display.
If you and a companion notice different things, choose a meeting point and allow a little separate browsing. Comparing what made each of you stop can be more interesting than trying to agree on every stall.
Leave room to choose lunch
Arriving hungry can make the first queue feel like the only option. If you can, look at the displayed menus and prices before committing. Choose something you want now and leave another possibility for later. Specific menus, availability and prices need checking at the stalls.
For a group, decide whether you are sharing or ordering separately before reaching the front. Ask vendors about ingredients and preparation if you have dietary requirements. Do not assume that a particular dish or a free sample will be available everywhere.
Before buying food to take home, ask about storage and consider how long you intend to stay. Carrying purchases can change how comfortably you browse. If a long visit is the plan, separating your shopping from the meal you eat there may make the afternoon easier to enjoy.
Let one performance give the visit a shape
If you would like to stay for music, there are names worth checking before choosing your day. Radio Seoul's September 28 report lists Jinusean, Tiger JK, Yoon Mi-rae, Big Ocean, Dumbfoundead, Kang Yuchan, from20 and Killagramz, among other artists, in this year's festival lineup. The graphic below selects those names from the report.

HOBBY-IST editorial graphic, not an official poster. Selected names reported by Radio Seoul on September 28, 2026, for the full festival—not a Saturday–Sunday timetable. Check organizer updates for individual appearance dates and times.
You do not need to follow every stage program to have a satisfying festival day. Check the latest announcements on the organizer’s website before leaving. If a particular program interests you, use its confirmed day and start time as the anchor for your visit.
This guide does not assign unverified times to performers. Overall opening hours should not be read as a promise that every performance or activity runs throughout the day. Confirm the individual program that matters to you.
A loose order such as browsing, eating and then watching your chosen performance may be enough. This is an editorial suggestion, not an official route or a forecast of crowd levels. Reverse it if shopping is your main reason for going. Leave space to stay longer at something you enjoy rather than turning the visit into a series of deadlines.
Consider Uber and a short walk
For this visit, we suggest taking an Uber to a nearby location where stopping is permitted, then walking the remaining distance. Skipping the search for parking and a shuttle connection can simplify the outing and, depending on conditions, save time.
Trying to reach the entrance by car may still put you in festival traffic. Compare the app's estimated arrival time and fare before leaving, and coordinate a suitable drop-off with your driver. Choose somewhere with a usable pedestrian route; do not request a stop in a restricted area, crosswalk or bus stop. We have not verified an official Uber drop-off zone, so this guide does not designate a particular curb or intersection.
For the journey home, decide where you can safely wait before requesting a ride. Uber is not guaranteed to be faster or cheaper: demand-based fares and driver waits can change the calculation. Consider walking distance, your companions' mobility needs and how much you plan to carry.
Driving instead? Recheck the parking rate
The organizer lists designated parking and a shuttle service operating 8:30 a.m.–11 p.m., at approximately 20-minute intervals. That interval is guidance, not a guaranteed wait. The listed parking facilities are described as cashless. Consult the official parking and shuttle page for the arrangements.
There is a detail to check carefully: on September 30, that page contained both $6 and $8 weekend rates in different sections. We are not treating either as a confirmed price. Check the current payment page and signs for the specific facility, including the conditions attached to its rate.
Save the garage entrance and return shuttle location, rather than only the park address. Share the plan with your companions, and allow time for the journey between parking and the festival. A performance start time is not a useful target for reaching the garage.
Bring one interest home with you
For someone looking for a hobby, a market can offer a small question to follow later. Could you cook with an ingredient that caught your attention? Draw a pattern or color combination you noticed? Look up another piece of music after hearing something unfamiliar?
You do not need to turn the outing into a new purchase or a course registration. When you get home, write down one thing you would like to explore again. If you bought something, give it a possible place in the coming week. If you bought nothing, a remembered detail is enough.
The point is not to complete the market. It is to spend part of a weekend there and leave with something you are still curious about after the stalls are behind you.
Before you go: check the latest event notices, the individual program you want to see, your parking payment conditions and your return route. Information checked September 30, 2026. Suggested visit sequences are editorial recommendations. This article contains no affiliate links.
